It's going to be a quick show. We have family in town. It's still technically a holiday. Is it? Well, we don't want to be here. That's the first time I think we can say that. I think we both like. You know what, we could take the day off. I mean, like, I. Jesse's using my computer. You know, Max makes me feel.

I, I don't feel like we have to have this day off, but it is. If it's on a Tuesday, it doesn't feel natural. Are you in, Ray recording today? Yu-Gi-Oh But I, I told him, it's like. You think you're using my computer for that? Because I can tell you right now, first off, get on home. First off, this computer's literally been sitting in that chair for two weeks. My laptop. Second off, I think we may just do it. I, I may not even come back to the studio from the house. Okay. Yu-Gi-Oh they're doing work at the house. We'll see.

We have. Yu-Gi-Oh it's short. You're just kind of a. Check in after the weekend. Thursday will be the big show. Obviously. We have football opening tomorrow night. 2. I think you've said enough, though. Yep. One, the impact of the NFL season on the hobby. It is different than most other sports. We'll talk about that briefly. The other thing is we put up a little post like, hey, everybody just talks about the same. I feel like we're getting into this useless vacuum of like, hey, here's the six greatest inserts, PMGs and this that it's just like the same ones. And people forget there are thousands of inserts. And especially from the 90s, you've got hundreds of inserts that were awesome back then. And so I just asked people like, hey, what are your some of your favorite inserts that have not popped? What are the ones that have not spiked yet that people aren't talking about? So that rather than people come in the space or people who are already here be like, oh well, I can't afford a pmg. Yu-Gi-Oh I can't afford a Zebra I can't afford Legacy Showcase. Cool. Don't get discouraged and leave. Buy one of these other trillion that are out there.

Find a. Find one that you would like because inevitably there's so many you can find something you would enjoy. Yu-Gi-Oh there's a million. So those are kind of the two. To get back to the NFL thing, Pat's Seattle tomorrow night, Wednesday night, and everybody opens a Sunday. There's other sports where you're like, the movement of cards is not the same sport to sport. In baseball somebody could have a big game and unless it's like Josh Baez hitting three home runs in his first three at bats, it's not going to have nearly the impact as NFL. Yu-Gi-Oh NBA and mlb, especially baseball, have way more games. You get to see those guys in the NBA, 82 games a season, MLB 162 plus playoffs. Okay, so in the NFL, the reason I bring this up is Pete Crow Armstrong was a good example. He had a hot start to the season, good to start to season, then he got absolutely nuclear in like June, July, August. He's been unreal since he's going to one-of-one the MVP out of this world. But if you notice, it wasn't like over a two game span. His stuff just went crazy. Yu-Gi-Oh it was over the course of a month and then especially the last two to three weeks. Hey, this guy is literally outperforming Otani. He is like a heavy favorite to one-of-one the MVP. Now, now we see a stuff spike NBA, same thing. Hey, a guy went off for 30 points. If he's a total unknown and no one okay, then his stuff's going to instantly spike, right? One off, fine. But for your average like good player, Devin Booker, having two games in a row with 30 points does nothing. Now he does it for nine games in a row where he averages 32. Huge spike. Bring this back though to the NFL. NFL is so much more limited exposure. There's 17 games a season. That is it. And it's a week in between.

Every game is a moving. A moving event. Every game. Exactly. That's a excellent. I didn't even think you were paying attention because you're over there typing away, but you were. You made a great point. Every game means so much more. Yu-Gi-Oh I E. KYLER Murray throws for 340 and three touchdowns and people start talking on Monday of hey, him and Jefferson. Man, this is the magic. It's huge. Tua fraking. By the way, Mike is really hoping for that. He's. I've sold all but one. I have only one left and it's going for sale Sunday night.

But you have one Australia game coming in Thursday night. Papa Gio's here. By the way in Australia. Rams 49ers. Oh, that's a huge game. Okay. And that's. That's another perfect example. Rams Ners. If Brock Purdy comes out and has a crazy game, people will overreact off one game. If Tua. Tua just got named starter, you see in Atlanta. Right. Oh, is he really? If Tua comes in and plays well, there's a ton of these one off situations. Now there are a few guys that are exempt. Josh Allen, Patrick Mahomes, Lamar Jackson, they're already great. Stafford one game is not going to do it. But for the majority of guys in the NFL, one week makes an impact in pricing immediately. I only bring this up because I think again, some safe principles. Do what you want with this. If you just are in love with a guy and want to be in there long term for the season, fine. But if you're somebody who like most have bought two flip so you can go buy other cards you want take a one-of-one after a good week.

Oh, I see what you're saying. Yu-Gi-Oh Yu-Gi-Oh for sure. Well, more than any other sport I you the only caveat to that is do you think if you perceive them to be a long term it's not just like a hey Yu-Gi-Oh But you. You are okay with like hey, keep it as opposed to sell then try and buy back in. Yu-Gi-Oh Because I don't even saying buy back in. I just mean if you're playing the game of like hey, when do I move football cards. Yu-Gi-Oh In general it's as soon as you can. As soon as there's a good Joe Burrow has a good week. Joe Burrow gets injured almost every season. I'm not like I don't believe in Joe Burrow long term. And if you do, I would still sell it to high. If something happens, buy back. But my point is just the NFL is so much more reactionary.

I guess my only thing is like they're. The idea of that though sounds very much like if they go off and they pop off and they hit a new high, you're saying go ahead and sell, take your one-of-one But the other idea is like you could miss out on the continued upside. Can always miss out on continued upside. But the NFL is the same on the negative. One good week, it's unreal. Burrow next week throws three picks and tweaks his acl. I will. Yu-Gi-Oh Over like I was gonna say, one crashes are just as bad a bad weekend is. It feels like it's almost even more influential sometimes where it's like it depends on if there are some. Like Mahomes has a one bad weekend and it's not as much.

If TUA comes out though and looks terrible, it's like oh well 2 has always looked terrible. Now it's gonna take two or three games to convince us otherwise. Yu-Gi-Oh Whereas if he comes out and play. So I just. If you have been buying up with a lot of guys have has nothing to do. I know you're all PC and stuff. Me and Jesse have huge PCs. I'm talking though from the other angle of if you have been buying NFL stuff to resell it. I think in general the principle is as soon as you can take a one-of-one almost across the board, sure there's some outliers. You take the one-of-one when you can.

Can I tell everybody what your cards and my cards are for the NFL draft thing that we're doing? Oh, absolutely. So Yu-Gi-Oh so it's called the SCN Fantasy Show Fantasy Challenge. So we were given. Can I set the stage please? We were basically. This is Chris Thomas's idea. His brainchild. PSA is going to come on board as a huge sponsor. The value of those five cards today has to be between 950 and a thousand bucks. That was your budget. It runs every single week. And then just like fantasy, you can make trades, roster Moves, whatever. At the end of the year, whoever's portfolio is worth the most is going to one-of-one a couple thousand dollar Prizm Oh, I didn't know that there's prizes involved.

You're not eligible. Is. Hey, Kyler Murray goes off this week. I may have paid 150. If the value is now 300, I can trade it. I have 300 to spend. Had I know about this Prizm I wouldn't have put in so many kickers. That's okay. So, Jesse, give us. Before you take that obnoxious slurp of your freaking idiot. I hope. What were you saying? A select silver, by the way, your Panini Prizm I assumed because you did not put silver, it was just a base PSA 10. Drake, give me the. So Kyler Murray is a 2019 Panini select, field level silver. Cheap as a PSA 10. 150, 135. Those two, by the way, in one week, if they play well. Gone. I will upgrade those immediately. Give me the next. Don't give me the big one yet.

The next one is Aaron Rodgers. Oh, we have a 2005 Upper Deck Premier rookie. Yes. Again, another PSA 10. That's like 150. That's kind of a hold. That's probably not moving anytime soon. I think it's safe, but that's kind of. Hey, end of the season swan song. Yu-Gi-Oh I actually think that's probably the one card I'm keeping The whole. That's again one of those, like the longer they've been in the game, I feel like it's almost the more that's affecting 100 or more that's needed to affect them. Yu-Gi-Oh But that's a card. I'm probably just riding till the very end because I think there's the farewell tour this year. Give me the four. I can't remember the other cheapy.

Jamar Chase. Oh, yes, Jamar Chase. Dirt cheap. I think there's going to be a little magic with him. And burrow. There's a 20, 21 Panini Mosaic green PSA 10, dirt cheap, 60 bucks. See, that's one though, I think gets that to me. So those three are like, hey, one offs, weird week, upgrade to something better. Yu-Gi-Oh The Rogers is the long term hold. I went with the hero option. Christian McCaffrey, tie dye, rookie PSA 10 number to 25. I just think that's stupid cheap. It's like 460. 471. 471. Yep.

And we want to have card letter values. Yu-Gi-Oh Yu-Gi-Oh That's another one though. I think it's going to be more than one week. But let's say the Niners start off 3 and 1 and CMC is playing like he ended last year. MVP caliber level. I think that could get a Also, by the way, he's always hurt, though. He is hurt a lot. He is. But I. I need a three or four week window. You said. By the way, I'm making sure you know this. It doesn't really matter unless you're playing this game with us. But there are only five regular season moves allowed.

Correct? Okay. That's why I say so. Rogers, to me, that one-of-one. Yu-Gi-Oh You don't have to worry about him. The other three. I think there's huge upside if something happens. Yu-Gi-Oh McCaffrey I think is like the three to five week. If he's having an MVP type season. And again, my reasoning, there's only 25 of them. They don't sell often. The next one could very easily sell for 300. Yu-Gi-Oh Or if he's really hot, like somebody could take a chance, like, I'll pay 900 because I never see him.

I honestly think we should have done one move a week. You should be allowed one move a week. But give me your next time. All right. My cards are. No, you can read them a lot if you want. I know. I'm trying to think where, where to start. That's more or less respectable in your eyes. All right. First card. I'm just gonna go down the list. 20, 23. Prizm CJ Stroud Silver. PSA10. How much? 300. It's a $400 card. Oh, good luck. That's a Maybe I like Stroud. I think that's a long. Like that's another guy, though. It's not one or two weeks. I don't hate it.

So the reason why I even put him. He is. Has gone up and down. It is actually. Oh, here's a good question. It's now 350. Oh, but prices lock in today. Right. So technically I would be going to be under the threshold, though it's locked in at the value on that sheet. All right, well, we'll figure out how because he has a thing. It has to. Well, Jesse has got a great defense, which means you're going to have multiple chances for him not to screw up. You have plenty of room to prove you're not it. So I would say that is a terrible choice for the value. I like the player.

Well, it had already come down, so I was like, all right. I felt. I felt okay. But now I know when it came down. Till then. Well, no, it had come down even more from that. Before that it was up. It was like around 500 not too long ago. So. All right. Terrible. 450. 500. Next card is Mac Jones Silver. He's not going to play PSA 1074. You don't know that. You do not know that. I. There's a real chance that Purdy hurts himself. He is. He's a small man and I think he is there price for last place. There's enough people holding him.

We get rid of him. Whoever's the last. I think there's. I think there's enough people out there holding him that they want that card. They want to see it go up in value. So C.J. stroud, terrible choice. Mac Jones. Jesse loves his backups. Even worse. Listen, values move between now and lock in day. On Tuesday, September 8th, we take the official snapshot shot of those numbers. So it is Shroud is at. Going to be at 350 for that card. But is your overall value going to actually be where it needs to be if you're under 950, it doesn't qualify Al.

The. The total value. Well, then that would. That wouldn't make sense. If everything's below 950, then I'm sure I've got to adjust something else. That's what I'm saying. So you'd have to make a move Yu-Gi-Oh I can. I. I make a move if I have to, but maybe something else went up. You never know. All right, listen, are you looking on the website? Because we built a site out for this to track all these portfolios. Oh, is there a link on the website? I'm just looking at the actual doc where we all put our cards.

So how do you know that went down then? Because I pulled up card ladder. Oh, so you're looking simultaneous. Yu-Gi-Oh that was my. All right, so the Mac Jones Silver at $74. The next one is a 2024 Bowman U Chrome. Cam Ward Fuchsia Refractor auto out of 150. I don't mind Cam Ward. He's a wild card. I don't like his college stuff, though. It's a PSA 1010, 265. Okay. All right. By the way, the reason I didn't pick a Cam Ward card, the majority of his pro stuff in 2025, Zebra Zebra low pops because a lot of it hasn't come back yet. Yu-Gi-Oh And I was like these. Even if he plays great, his value will come down because at some point, they'll start coming.

Well, why do you think I went with that Bowman U card? Right? Because it was like. Because you're a terrible choice. No college goes down when pro releases one-of-one Well, I figured there's still enough time. We've got a few more months before a lot of people start getting a lot of those cards back. And that will maintain value for the next foreseeable few weeks. At least a few months. I will take the other side. You know what, though? You're going to one-of-one You're like the soccer mom who wins the fantasy football league.

I've Beckett guys who were already down for the most part or except for Shroud, who kept going down after. But we didn't lock the roster in, so you got saved by the bell.

I knew how it worked. Some of those guys are barely in the NFL. You know what? If all of this is true, we'll come back and we'll find out. That's what I'm saying. We'll find out. It's so bad. By the way, you might do well. Yu-Gi-Oh Following up on other follow ups from last week's episode, you're talking about like the whole PSA sgc. PSA outsells everything. And I made the argument about vintage and that you made comments about vintage. We've had. I've had three different people reach out and say no. Mike did. There was like. There are times he would say vintage would be on par or outperform psa.

I'd like to hear a clip then, because that's never. I've never said it outperforms. Did anybody send references or clips or actual notes of that? No, no. It's a blind claim. I mean, it. Multiple. Multiple people are saying it. It makes me think. Well, maybe I'm not insane. Multiple people said Malika Willis was great. According to. I also found. I also found several other references of the. A vintage card outselling. Let's bring up. Please give me the. Give me the exact. I knew this would. No, this would all consume him.

I'm happy to be proven wrong. I mean, you can't make. My friend just came back from Saratoga last weekend and they were picking horses. His wife. His wife's just picking horses by picking colors. Oh, how'd they do that? Just the same as you're gonna do. All right, give me. We'll see about that. Let's see what we're talking about here. First off, did we do 1951 Bowman mickey mantle? Do you remember which bow we did? We did the tops, I think. Okay. So I just. I spent like maybe 15 minutes on this. So this was the first one. Was a 1951 Bowman. Bowman SGC3. I don't. I think this is not like a perfect example because there were some times where it was outselling in depending on which one you looked at. But yes, that one was one where.

Okay, so I've got 24th on the 16th. You have to. And if you're. If anyone's going to do this, if you want to compare, you have to find the SGC comp first because those are going to be much harder to find than the PSA ones. Okay, I've got one on 16 August and then back in June and then in April. So I've got 2016 of August. I think that one is under the PSA one that was right around the same time because there was an August 15th one that sold for 35,000. So that one would have been PSA. Yes. Oh Yu-Gi-Oh So like PSA is last few. So 32,000, 28,000. 35,000. 23 back in July. But the one back in July over there was only 18 it looks.

So between May, May 18 and July 10 there wasn't a PSA one sold but the May 18 the PSA sold for 22. Then on July 10 it sold for 18, whereas in between that time on June 14 it sold for 28,000. Okay, just to be clear. So like again, context, that's the most miscut card I've ever seen in my life. That's not. Which. That's the July 10th you just said was the low at 18. That is not necessary. That's just showing a. Okay, Yu-Gi-Oh that's not showing that specific. What's the SGC dates? Real quick, give me like some of the dates so I can go date for date.

The. The one that we were just talking about for sec was the 20. I'm sorry, the 14th of June. Okay, June 14th. I've got one June 8th, so pretty close within a week. Wait, where did you find that one rental card letter for PSA. PSA 3. It didn't show on the. That thing. Rent a card letter. What was your June 14 sale? The June 14 was 28 000.28 8. That is a thirty thousand dollar comp. So hang on, let me. It's not on the. It's not. That's a replica card. I was wondering why it's 30 bucks. I was like this doesn't make sense to me.

But though I will tell you the other ones I found it was an SGC8 Mickey Mantle comparing to a PSA8 from 1965. There was a Wilt Chamberlain. 1961. Wilt Chamberlain, PSA4. Let's wait and do a segment because I want to actually talk about. I don't. I mean, you're saying these. I don't know if that's true and I haven't got. That's fine. When you say best, though, you're just talking about like highest value best. Like that's the greatest insert in almost every. Like, if you took a poll what makes it best though?

Like if you took a poll, PMGs are the greatest basketball insert of all time. Like that would be the overwhelming majority winning answer on the poll question. And so that person's first pmg. Monetary value. Monetary value off the charts as well. But that's a combination of both. I think most would also tell you the shield is the greatest card anybody can have in NFL. Shield is like the, the top of the top. So if the person's first shield isn't on rookie, that shield is probably a better card than anything they have as a rookie.

Would you say though, that applies maybe more to some older cards? Because now we're getting into the days where you've got a debut patch. Yu-Gi-Oh I mean the rookie can also have it. Yu-Gi-Oh but he's talking about like 2001. For most older guys though, I bet they have other cards that are not rookies that are better because there was a lot of innovation. New stuff coming up. Who are the best rookies from the years you're talking about? Go through those sets, find those cards and then go to Absolute listings. You can use card ladder, but that's a card letter is a comping app, a card app you actually like. For that you need a paid subscription. Go to Absolute listings. What does this card sell for in a PSA? 7 or 8. Because you're probably not going to be sitting on tens, but it one-of-one take you long that generation. Like what are the guys that actually stand out. Give me the list of like, hey, these eight rookies are the best. See if you have them. If you do, what are they worth? If they are graded. But very simple. That's all I would do.

I will say to. To your point about like checking PSA sevens and eights, I think that is the smartest thing because most people just check on the tin and they're like, oh, Yu-Gi-Oh I just. Is there any way for collectors and someone like myself who sends cards through ebay and submits to psa, Is there any way to protect ourselves from possibly having this happen? Nope. They sent me a check like just. And all it was was I submitted it with a picture and they sent me the check and. But it was also in their system lot like that's not an employee stealing it though.

No, but it was just showing as it was never delivered. Right. And so they basically. So maybe I just mean if it's less than a hundred dollars, I think you stand a chance of getting some of it back. By the way, that is one thing we didn't talk about at all was the Fanatics break in. Oh, their store. Yu-Gi-Oh Well, the London. I've heard from the guys over there, they said almost every single actual, like, card shop there has either been broken into or attempted to be broken into. And when I was at that specific shop in London, I will say it is kind of ballsy considering is all the cameras that are everywhere in London and you that is Downtown. So something would have gotten caught. But I was shocked that it's not like, you know, bulletproof glass or something like that to get into the cases, at least inside, because I just assumed when I saw they have multiple four, five, and probably even six figure cards in there. I'm just kind of shocked that he didn't have that, you know, something more protected. But that is something that everybody in this hobby has to start really planning for, have it insured, or have some kind of production with it.

So, Nathan, carry on the goat market. Lately, I've got a few LeBron slab rookies that I got hanging around. Didn't know if now would be a good time to unload them, save them. But is there any risk that his more quote unquote modern or current Dodger uniform type of era autos and other top cards could hit some type of plateau? Yu-Gi-Oh I mean so just do I know the exact number? No, but I can tell you this. Otani and any product since then has never been inserted as a base auto. He is almost always an sp, a variation, a short or a numbered limited print. So I do think they're aware of that. Like that's why I look at any of the checklists. Finest came out recently. Bulma Chrome one-of-one have Otani. What's like a tier 1 a triple threats? Any of these ones Ohtani has a Zebra short print, shorted printed amount of autos. So is it a concern? I guess maybe. But no. Like this was how Brady operated his whole career. Very few autos every single year and most collectors want more than one one-of-one So as long as they keep it like that, no issue do you think it's very few autos altogether, though? Like, I would.

No, I think it's thousands a year. Yu-Gi-Oh But compared to some guys who are fifty to a hundred thousand a year, it's Zebra limited. I think what you're gonna probably end up finding is the kanji autographs will become. I mean, they're already more popular in most cases anyways. A trillion times. There's like one for every thousand regular. And that's what I think those will continue to stand out as, like the even more rare thing. Like, oh, you have a Ohtani auto, cool. But do you have the Kanji Otani?

The problem, though is it's never going to be realistic. Like, if you look at his Bowman Chrome, it's like a 10x multiplier on that card. Goes from like a hundred thousand. Like a million dollar card. That's what I mean. Like, is that the gold standard? Yes. But it's never going to be like normal people are never gonna be able to touch them anyways. Did you see this thing? I think it was Cage the lawyer put something out about this, but he's saying that Ohtani has had five cards sell this year for over a million dollars in card ladder. He's about to have a sixth. And if you look back at last year's card ladder, like, for a million dollar sales, there was only six cards all together. Where in Otani now will have six?

I'm curious if either of you have experience with it and what your thoughts are.

No, I don't think you should do anything to. Alteration versus restoration. I don't think you should do anything to affect the card in any way, shape, or form. Aside from if you take a microfiber cloth to wipe off fingerprints, period, and water solution. No, no, I. I don't. That's where I stand. I come down on a very firm no. Okay. Because I think it's a Zebra slippery slope and there's already too many scumbags here. I don't think they're. I have changed my tune on it. I will agree. Like, I don't want to add or, you know, trim a card. I don't want to take anything away from it. I also don't want to add any coloring or anything like that. But if it's a matter of, like, oh, well, if I put this in between a thick book and just press it together, then that dent that was in it comes out. I don't have a problem with that. Or, oh, there's like some mold on here. I can just get a white micro or wet microfiber and just wipe it and that comes off. Okay. I don't have problems with those things.

Mold. Yu-Gi-Oh Okay. Like on a vintage card. Like dirt. Yu-Gi-Oh exactly. Oh, okay. I'm okay with that because. Yu-Gi-Oh I'm all right with that. Again, that goes back to restoration versus alteration, and I think that's a big. But you've come a long way, though, because before you, I think you were a little more loose with those terms. No, we're like, no, you just said you change your stance. I think that's the change, isn't it? No, my. My stance has changed from the standpoint of. I think most people would have just said, oh, that is alteration altogether.

What is your. My stance is. That's not alteration. That is restoration. And I think that is fine. So what's changed? So your stance has changed. What's changed about that? You're getting. You're getting too tied up. Don't move past that part of it in the point that I made. Why'd you say it then? I'm just curious. Because. Didn't you. Because when I said mine, I guess I meant the royal. Like we. Like. Oh, the. The idea was this was altering a card. I was. I am now saying I don't think that is altering. Maybe some do.

I don't think it just said, though, that's. It is like, those restorations yes. And I've never. No, the problem is you've listened to professor too many times. Oh, Mike's been messing with it. I don't, I don't know how that works, so I can't say if it does do that. So that stance has not changed definitively. Yu-Gi-Oh I would need to know what you. What we're talking about specifically scary, this one. It's not scary because me. That's all. But it shouldn't scare you because you don't even know what it is. You don't know what it does either. I think the fact that it can't be a hard no on certain things is a worrisome idea. It's because being a hard no means there's no room for gray or black and white. And I don't agree with that.

There's room for only black and white. Actually, there's no room for gray. I'm sorry. There's no room for gray and it's only black and white. I do not agree with that. I think there's got to be caveats for some things. And I think you would agree too if you stepped outside of this argument. Oh, sure. Outside of the argument. I think there's plenty of room in this argument. I think it's a terrible precedent to set and it's very scary. No, because it's only closed minded people who get upset when you say something like, oh, you are okay with alteration.

I think it's the wrong thing to do. I'm not even saying you specifically. There's. There's a lot of like you saying things. It's not you and other people. I'm not saying the collective we again. See, here's the problem. I am talking about you sometimes and I'm talking about other people all the time. So there are. You one-of-one It's. It's professor. And you listen to that and you accept what he's saying is truth because you didn't actually go back. And like, because I know there was a time where I talked about restoration of cards. There was a whole thing that was made of like, oh, Jesse's, pro, like painting or coloring a card or adding or taking something away.

And we have on our podcast. I didn't come from somebody else. Me and you had that discussion in the studio. So that's my. That's the only time I ever referenced that, like, action with this. Because it came up several times on his show as well. Oh, I. That. I didn't know I was talking about the conversation we had about this. I'm not going off anything he said. But again, the conversation has been every single time. I am okay with. So long as you're not taking away or adding anything to a car. That's why I was curious.
